Objectives of Directorate
1- Liaisoning with National and International agencies on collaborative forestry research and signing MoUs.
2- To identify the area-wise experts in ICFRE and coordinating formulation and implementation of theme and thrust area based projects with prospective funding agencies
3- To conduct programmes like workshop, seminars and conferences for Externally Aided Projects (EAPs) related issues.
4- To coordinate the submission and approval of EAP to the perspective funding agencies.
5- Monitoring the progress of Externally Aided Projects as per the parameters/standards of the funding agency.
6- To maintain the data of operational EAPs.

Biodiversity & Climate Change
The Biodiversity and Climate Change is carrying out and coordinating the basic and applied research of climate change in India:
1- Vulnerability and adaptations of forest ecosystems to climate change
2- Mitigation of climate change through forestry activities
3- Socio- economic influences of climate change on forest-based communities
4- Policy research on Forest and Climate Change related issue at UNFCCC and their implications for India
5- Preparedness for Reduced Emission from deforestation and degradation (REDD-Plus) in the country
6- Reporting on Forestry sector and Climate Change for National Communication and Biennial update Reports (BUR) for MoEF&CC.
