Quinquennial Review


Recently the Research Planning Division has taken a new initiative to get the Quinquennial Review of all the eight ICFRE institutes done for five years plans. The Quinquennial Review for four Research Institutes has been initiated on pilot study bases for the research projects taken up during the tenth five year plan.

Independent Evaluation of Research Projects

Monitoring and Evaluation Division also conducts the independent evaluation of a few research projects of each institute to assess the extent to which the objectives achieved, technology transferred from lab to land, addressing of the research needs of the user groups and stake holders through an independent subject matter specialist agency/ individual experts.


BTSG - ICFRE, Dehra Dun

The National Bamboo Mission (NBM), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India has recognized Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehra Dun as a Bamboo Technical Support Group (BTSG) to provide guidance in policy, organizational and technical matters to 11 states viz., Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Gujarat through Bamboo Literature; Publicity of the Mission Activities; Imparting Training to Farmers/Field Functionaries of concerned states; Organization of Seminars/Workshops and Expert services in Bamboo Plantation; Bamboo Handicraft and Bamboo marketing.  

Rolling Research Plan

To have a holistic yet flexible long term research planning, the rolling research plan for five years with provision of reviews every year has been adopted.

All India Coordinated Research Projects on important forestry species have been initiated to avoid duplication of research efforts and to have better synergy between various Institutes.
